Colorado
Secretary of State Scott Gessler released the annual report on charitable
solicitations, which summarizes the information reported by charitable
organizations, paid solicitors, and professional fundraising consultants
registered to solicit contributions in Colorado.
This
year’s report provides a new format that gives users more open access to the
data. The report has been streamlined in response to the interests and needs of
consumers who participated in a 2012 survey about the annual report.
Additionally, the report:
- Points
charities to resources for industry best practices,
- Offers
wise giving tips and industry standards for donors,
- Discusses
the common themes in complaints from the past five years, and
- Includes
data tables, graphs, and charts that cover a broad spectrum of charitable
solicitations activity.
Donors
will find financial information to help them decide which charities to support,
along with an overview of Colorado’s charitable solicitations rules, laws, and
2012 changes.
Charities
will find information that will help them contract with paid solicitors and get
favorable terms for any solicitation campaigns that they are planning to run in
the near future.
